Gaita Kukibi Widows and Elderly Network (GWEN) assists widows and older persons as well as orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs)  under their care. Gaita Kukibi, in Luganda literally means “joint efforts can overcome hardship.”

Uganda Emergency Fund via Gaita Kukibi

On July 11, 2010 in Kampala, explosions tore through crowds watching the World Cup final at a
rugby club and an Ethiopian restaurant, killing at least 64 people and injuring many more.

This very sad tragedy has caused our friends and supporters from around the world to contact
Gaita Kukibi to see whether we can help them assist the victims and their families.

Therefore, we have established this Emergency Fund that you can feel free to utilize with the assurance that we will work closely with our contacts in the community and Ugandan American Global Initiatives to make sure that all donated funds go to the relief and support of people who were injured or lost family members/loved ones because of the attacks.
